Writerly Coffee Shop Adventures, this November – April

Let’s shake the winter blues, and take over Carver County coffee shops this chilly season!

A selfie photo of the author, with a sweatshirt hood pulled tight around her ears but not quite covering the chaotic flop of a messy bun on top of her head. She wears glasses and her expression appears to show that she is barely tolerating her current circumstances.

Pictured: the author this morning, current emotional state uncertain.

Let’s face it. Winter is tough. I know that I (Jen) struggle with motivation in the winter, because the air is SO COLD, and the heavy blankets and down comforters and raggedy sweatpants are my constant companions. It’s easy to burrow away and hibernate for several months, and of course everything suffers from lack of motivation – including my writing.

So I’ve decided to do something a little drastic (or maybe not… maybe it’s just what most normal Minnesotans do to carry on with life in subzero). Anyway… for Sunday Fun Day, once per month, let’s meet at a local coffee shop in Carver County. Let’s support local business, get cozy with coffee and good company, crank our motivation to the HIGH setting, and write in community!

This is less of an organized event, and more of a casual but enthusiastic invite to join me on a little adventure every month this frozen season. I’m organizing these Sunday Fun Days to hopefully find some inspiration along the way, in a new place I haven’t visited before. If this sounds good to you, you’re already on the guest list (there is no guest list… just show up). Put on your Sunday best and I’ll see you there (there is no dress code; you can roll up in pajamas, or your Sunday best… up to you). I’ll be the girl in sweatpants, with the laptop and the WWG sign!

Hope to see you this approaching Sunday, at Mocha Monkey!
